Daily Musings 93 “potty trained”

My not so baby boy turns 3 in less than 2 weeks. When we were hit with the lockdown in March I decided I should try to potty train him. Potty training was something I’d been lowkey dreading about momming. I just couldn’t wrap my head around how you teach little people to use the potty without it being complete torture for all parties involved.Nevertheless, it was something I could no longer push to the side. The little guy and I were together, at home, all day long every day of the week.

I can’t remember exactly when I started (maybe April) nor can I remember exactly what I did (I promise it wasn’t much…mostly I think he didn’t want to disappoint me 😕)…but folx by July 8th this kid was potty trained and wearing underwear all day long.

I remember the date (well, a WhatsApp search helped me remember) because on July 7th I was complaining to friends that I didn’t think I was cut out for potty training and a friend suggested trying out training briefs. I ordered some the same day and dude has used the potty ever since. He wore the training briefs but he never peed in them once. By October, he was sleeping through the night in his undies as well 🙌🏾

It’s truly been a game changer, he’s a legit big boy now – nah, he’s my baby forever, and as long as I’m living, my baby he’ll be. So on this 12th last day of 2020 I give thanks for potty training successes!! Now to figure out how to get him to wipe his own bum 🤔
